For the first time in a merger control case, the Spanish Competition Authority has accepted the implementation of a competition law compliance programme as a commitment to mitigate identified competition concerns. This decision, along with the public consultation launched last December to update the Antitrust Compliance Programmes Guidelines, underscores the growing relevance the Spanish Competition Authority attributes to competition law compliance programmes.
