MLAB ’s competition group is managed by Rafael Allendesalazar and Helmut Brokelmann, who work alongside fellow partners Mariarosaria Ganino, Alfonso Rincón and Roberto Vallina, one counsel and five associates. The team helped Spanish state-owned railway company Renfe end a European Commission abuse of dominance investigation with a behavioural remedy package that addressed its concerns. The team also defended UEFA in its litigation with the European Super League, which led to the ECJ and the Commercial Court of Madrid ruling against Europe’s football governing body in December 2023 and May 2024. The firm also acted for Altice in its appeal against a General Court ruling upholding the European Commission’s €125 million gun-jumping fine. The ECJ upheld the authority’s decision in November 2023 but lowered the sanction by €3.1 million. Meanwhile, the practice assists Curium Pharma Spain as it challenges a CNMC decision finding it colluded to share the radiopharmaceuticals market and rig bids with Novartis subsidiary Advanced Accelerator Applications Ibérica.
